Director of Major Gifts & Development

Director of Development Hampton University, Hampton, VA Job Type: Full-time Responsibilities Designs and oversees with the development leadership team the program content, strategies, goals and objectives for Hampton’s major gift initiative. Coordinates major giving program with annual fund, planned giving, foundations and corporations, alumni, and communications offices. Personally manages a portfolio up to 100-125 donors/prospects capable of making gifts of $25,000 and greater. Makes an average of 20 face-to-face visits per month for the purpose of solicitation and identification of major gifts prospects. With fundraising team, executes the MOVES Management plan for each current major donor of $10,000 and greater to increase gifts and uses the same to cultivate and solicit prospects for new gifts. Sets both annual giving and major gift objectives for individual donors and prospects. Documents and plans donor interactions on database, presents Vice President with annual plan for each donor/prospect and quarterly reports on progress. Helps set annual campaign goals based upon targeted major gifts. Prepares written and oral presentations, analytical financial reports, donor correspondence and proposals as needed. Assists the Vice President for Development as directed.
