Centrifuge Field Service Technician Position Summary

The Field Service Technician is a hands-on, customer-facing role responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of decanter and tricanter centrifuges at customer sites across the region. This individual brings strong mechanical aptitude, professionalism, and a commitment to quality workmanship to every engagement. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted technical resource for our customers, representing Sentrimax values in the field.

Key Responsibilities Field Service & Repair

• Perform on-site inspection, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and corrective repair of decanter and tricanter centrifuges at customer facilities
• Conduct mechanical overhauls including disassembly, component inspection, reassembly, alignment, and commissioning in accordance with OEM and Sentrimax standards
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults; develop and communicate repair recommendations to customers and internal teams
• Operate and interpret results from vibration analysis, laser alignment, and balancing equipment
• Complete accurate field service reports, work orders, parts usage records, and time tracking in a timely manner

Customer Engagement

• Serve as the primary Sentrimax representative on-site, maintaining a professional, courteous, and solutions-oriented relationship with customer personnel
• Communicate job status, findings, and recommendations clearly and accurately to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Identify and proactively communicate opportunities for additional service, parts, or equipment rental/sales that add value for the customer

Quality & Safety

• Adhere to Sentrimax ISO 9001:2015 quality procedures and documentation requirements on every service call
• Follow all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations, including customer site-specific safety requirements (OSHA, PSM, confined space, lockout/tagout, PPE, etc.)
• Identify and report near-misses, incidents, and unsafe conditions promptly
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, equipment, and service vehicles

Collaboration & Development

• Coordinate with the Mansfield workshop team and other branches to ensure parts availability and scheduling efficiency
• Participate in ongoing technical training to stay current on centrifuge technology, new product lines, and service best practices
• Mentor junior technicians and share field knowledge to support team development

QualificationsRequired

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in industrial mechanical maintenance, repair, or field service
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools (micrometers, dial indicators, feeler gauges)
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, including overnight stays and occasional short-notice deployments
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varied outdoor/industrial environments
• Direct experience with decanter or tricanter centrifuges (Alfa Laval, ANDRITZ, Flottweg, GEA, Humboldt, or similar)

We are looking for a hands-on, mechanically minded Drafter who is skilled with SolidWorks, understands mechanical design, and can perform accurate measurements using tools such as micrometers and calipers.
Experience in a machine shop, reverse engineering parts, or working with tight geometric tolerances is a strong asset.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Mechanical Design Supervisor will support engineering, production, and quality teams by producing accurate 3D models, drawings, and inspection documentation. You will work directly with centrifuge components, machined parts, and rotating equipment, often reverse-engineering assets to create precise and reliable designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and mechanical components.
• Create and revise 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
• Operate CAD workstations and maintain organized drawing datasets.
• Develop engineering drawings, layouts, diagrams, and full documentation packages.
• Reverse engineer parts and assemblies using accurate measurement tools.
• Perform dimensional and visual inspections on machined components.
• Conduct first-part, first-article, and in-process inspections.
• Detect, document, and control non-conforming products.
• Maintain organized quality and inspection records.
• Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and production staff to ensure manufacturability and accuracy.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and MS Office.
• Ability to use or learn to use:
• Micrometers
• Calipers
• Height gauges
• OD ring gauges
• Thread lead/profile gauges
• Other precision measuring tools
• Understanding of geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
• Ability to reverse engineer components with accuracy.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, CAD Technology, or a related field.
• Machine shop experience is a strong advantage.
• Mechanical aptitude is essential.
