Overview Respiratory Therapist Reg at RWJBarnabas Health will provide high-quality respiratory care to patients across the continuum in a leading New Jersey healthcare system. Working within the Healthcare & Medical Services department, this role is responsible for assessing, treating, and monitoring patients with cardiopulmonary disorders in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members. The therapist will perform thorough respiratory assessments, interpret clinical data, and implement appropriate evidence-based respiratory care plans, including administering oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, chest physiotherapy, bronchial hygiene techniques, and ventilatory support. They will initiate, manage, and wean patients from invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation, adjust ventilator settings based on protocols and physician orders, and respond rapidly to changes in patient status. The Respiratory Therapist Reg will participate in emergency response situations such as rapid response and code teams, providing airway management, manual ventilation, and assisting with intubation and other complex respiratory procedures. They will perform and interpret diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gases, pulse oximetry, and basic pulmonary function assessments, documenting findings accurately in the electronic medical record. Working in a patient-centric, compassionate environment, the therapist will educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, equipment use, and home care strategies, while promoting adherence to treatment plans and reinforcing safe practices. The role requires strict adherence to infection prevention and safety protocols, careful equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, and accurate documentation that supports quality, regulatory compliance, and continuity of care.
