SOCIAL WORKER OR HUMAN SERVICES PROFESSIONAL V - OAHU

Recruitment Number 22-0626 Salary: $6,043 to $7,351 per month (SR‑24, Step D to I). Responsibilities Positions in this class serve as supervisors over groups of lower‑level professional staff or may be engaged in program development and evaluation functions. Work is performed under general supervision. Type A – Unit Supervisor : Full technical and administrative responsibility over a group of subordinate staff, plans, organizes, and directs unit activities to meet program objectives, assigns, reviews, and evaluates staff work, provides technical guidance, training, counseling, discipline, and performs other related duties. Type B – Program Specialist/Consultant : Assigned to new or existing programs, monitors and ensures relevancy of program goals, develops and evaluates program components, anticipates staff training needs, implements training, and may direct lower‑level specialists or serve as team leader when necessary. Program Areas Employment‑related or first‑to‑work services Child‑care licensing services and economic assistance to eligible families and individuals Administrative planning, development, and implementation of comprehensive statewide social service programs Medical assistance Vocational rehabilitation services, including services for individuals who are blind, deaf‑blind, or visually impaired Qualifications Legal Authorization to Work: U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident alien, or otherwise eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States. Basic Education Social Worker : Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work from an accredited program, or doctoral degree from an accredited institution. Human Services Professional : Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university with a minimum of 12 semester credit hours in counseling, criminal justice, human services, psychology, social work, social welfare, sociology, or related behavioral sciences. Specialized Experience Progressively responsible professional work experience involving helping individuals and families identify problems, cope, and function effectively in their environments. Social Worker – three years of experience for Bachelor of Social Work, two years for Master of Social Work, one year for Ph.D. in Social Work. Human Services Professional – three and one-half years of experience. Driver’s License: Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment. Testing Information The examination will be conducted on an unassembled basis; scores are based on evaluation of education and experience. Clear and detailed descriptions of duties and responsibilities for each previous position held are required. In‑person interviews or additional testing in Hawaii may be required at the discretion of the hiring agency.
