RN Medical ICU - Jeff Hwy - Full Time - Shift of Greatest Need

Ochsner Health seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) who will provide leadership in patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice. Effective delegation, direction, and assistance to licensed and ancillary team members is a core responsibility, with accountability for quality patient outcomes and cultural sensitivity in all interactions. Responsibilities Uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care. Assesses learner needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for patients, families and interdisciplinary teams. Communicates, delegates and manages nursing team resources, serving as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team. Uses data, information and knowledge to evaluate and promote change to achieve optimal outcomes. Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance patient satisfaction and employee morale. Adapts communication style and approach to suit the specific patient population. Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications Education : Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Bachelor’s degree preferred). Work Experience : None required. Certifications : Current RN license in state of practice and BLS certification from the American Heart Association; preference for clinical specialty certification. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs) : Proficiency in computers, software and web-based applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational and time‑management skills. Physical & Environmental Demands Heavy work: Can involve lifting 50–100 pounds occasionally or 25–50 pounds frequently. Frequent exposure to blood, body fluids, pathogens and hazardous medications. Physical demands exceed those for sedentary work; may include walking, standing, pushing and pulling of equipment or materials.
