Bus Driver Position Type: Transportation / Bus Driver (Part‑time) Date Posted: 12/16/2025 Location: District Office East Closing Date: Accepting Applications Job Summary Operates bus on designated routes and schedule, transporting only authorized students. Performs daily pre‑trip inspections, maintains student discipline according to district policies, keeps the bus clean and fueled, and completes required logs, mileage, maintenance, accident, and discipline reports. Training and support to obtain necessary licensure are provided by the district. Responsibilities Operate the bus on designated route and schedule, transporting only authorized students – routes, buses, and times may vary. Perform daily pre‑trip inspection on assigned bus. Maintain proper student discipline according to district policies and department procedures. Keep assigned bus clean and fueled. Complete pre‑trip logs, mileage, maintenance, accident, and discipline reports as required and/or requested. Receive training to obtain necessary licensure. Physical Requirements Inspect vehicle pre‑trip: lift hood, climb and reach to inspect engine area, bend and squat to inspect tires, walk up and down bus aisle to check seats and exits; exposure to elements may occur. Continue braking, accelerating, steering, and operation of service door and controls while driving. Be capable of lifting or dragging students in case of an emergency (ranging in weight from small child to full adult weight). Be exposed to road dust, occasional fuel and exhaust fumes. Qualifications High school graduate or GED. Valid Minnesota driver’s license with a good driving record and at least 3 years of driving experience (in any type of vehicle) for a bus driving position. Prefer individuals available to work mornings and afternoons. Enjoy working with children. Demonstrate and model positive, safe, and responsible behavior. Preferred: Experience and proficiency working with a culturally, ethnically, racially, and socioeconomically diverse school community. Benefits All employees eligible for a retirement plan.
