Accounting Business Systems Analyst (Actuarial IT)

We are seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst (Actuarial IT) to support actuarial, accounting, and data initiatives within a leading insurance and retirement services environment. This is a direct-hire opportunity with a global technology consulting organization supporting a large financial services client. The role will partner with business and technology teams to gather requirements, drive process improvements, support data modernization efforts, and deliver solutions in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements.
• Facilitate stakeholder workshops and requirements sessions.
• Translate business needs into functional specifications and user stories.
• Partner with Agile delivery teams to support development and testing efforts.
• Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and defect resolution.
• Support actuarial and accounting data initiatives, reporting, and modernization efforts.
• Assist with production support, process improvements, and retirement of legacy processes.
• Collaborate with business, technology, and data teams to ensure successful delivery.

Required Skills

Business & Domain Knowledge

• Business Analysis and requirements management
• Strong understanding of accounting principles
• Insurance operations knowledge (policy, billing, claims, reinsurance, reporting)
• Process improvement and root-cause analysis
• Stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration

Technical Skills

• SQL
• Advanced Excel
• Data analysis and reporting
• Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools
• Data modeling and integrations
• Experience with Agile methodologies and Jira

Preferred

• Experience with SAS, Python, or R
• Exposure to AWS cloud technologies
• Experience supporting actuarial or finance organizations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Finance, or a related field
• 8–10 years of Business Systems Analysis experience
• Experience working in insurance, actuarial, accounting, or financial systems environments
