MEDICAL LOGISTICS SUPPLY SPECIALIST

Position Overview We are seeking four highly skilled and detail‑oriented Supply Technicians to work on‑site at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. These personnel will use military records systems to assist the department and base in its mission. Responsibilities This position will serve as a Supply Technician providing operations support pertaining to supply chain management. Duties include customer service, acquisitions, forward logistics, receiving, stocking, selecting and storing medical supply items, supply turn‑in, medical group vehicle care, and handling of general or specialized bulk materials and equipment. Performance Outcomes Process customer orders, stock, and re‑supply medical logistics items, removing all outdated or expired items from shelves. Perform inventory and documentation of supply stock utilizing DMLSS, make adjustments to stock levels, and manage excess processes and credit returns program. Perform quality control on transaction records and file documents appropriately. Research quality assurance messages using DMLSS and coordinate affected products/recalls with affected work centers. Investigate troubled orders, aged due‑ins, and find alternatives while keeping customers informed of progress. Issue, exchange, fill, and resupply medical first aid kits. Provide forward logistics support to warehouse personnel, including delivery of supplies, equipment, or furniture to customer accounts within the medical treatment facility and outlying buildings. Ensure proper handling and storage of medical gases in accordance with applicable AFI’s and local safety guidelines; monitor exchange process. Coordinate scheduling and transportation requests for the turn‑in of unserviceable medical equipment, supplies, and furniture to DRMO and base transportation. Maintain medical group vehicle assets, including maintenance scheduling, fuel requirements, daily/monthly inspections, and general cleanliness. Other Considerations May serve to train or guide lower‑grade or other trade military/civilian employees. The contractor may require driving privileges and the ability to operate up to a 1.5 ton stake bed truck and 4–6K electric forklifts for delivery of medical equipment, supplies, and furniture. A valid driver’s license is required. Unique Military Health Care Systems / Procedures The contractor shall use the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support System (DMLSS) for basic routine ordering and issue procedures. Qualifications Mandatory knowledge and skills. Knowledge of governing supply regulations, procedures, and instructions. Knowledge of supply functions, operations, program requirements, and work methods. Knowledge of warehousing methods, procedures, material handling techniques, and activities such as material receiving, issuing, and preservation. Ability to use automated processing equipment and systems such as optical readers and scanners. Ability to read, interpret, and apply reference material such as regulations, manuals, catalogs, records, orders, etc. to accomplish and resolve problems. Proficiency in English, correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format for written correspondence, reports, and transcribed material. Proficient in using standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, fax machines, telephone systems, and office automation systems. Knowledge of Microsoft and Internet (web‑based) applications. Knowledge of general medical ethics, telephone etiquette, excellent communications and customer service skills, and ability to work independently. Education / Certification Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience A minimum of 3 years’ experience is required in a supply chain management setting that includes general supply activities, ordering, receiving, customer support, inventory management, warehousing, and operation of various material handling equipment. Physical Requirements Work is a combination of sedentary duties as well as light to moderate physical effort. Requirements include walking, standing, reaching, bending, and moving items; may require lifting and carrying weights over 45 pounds; works periodically on hard surfaces. Work Environment Work is performed indoors in an environment involving everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions.
