Summer Camp Counselor - Santa Monica

Job Details Location: 400 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90405 Camp Dates: 6/15/2026 (Mon) – 8/14/2026 (Fri), including one weekend for setup, one weekend for breakdown, and an orientation date. Camp Hours: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm (actual shifts will vary). Hourly Wage: $19.25 – $21.75 per hour. The pay range is an estimate; actual compensation will depend on experience and other business factors. Job Responsibilities Staff members facilitate activities, make connections, and monitor safety and wellness. Some staff members create and/or oversee activity spaces that campers self‑select; others rotate through support roles. Activities may include sewing, stop‑motion animation, maker space, performing arts, arts and crafts, lounging, recreation, and more. Additional Job Responsibilities Actively supervising campers Maintaining an organized and approachable activity space Ensuring compliance with camp policies Reporting and recording details of notable concerns or incidents, including injuries to campers, other staff, or self Keeping track of and being aware of camper allergies and dietary restrictions Adding daily updates and photos to campers’ profiles How do you know if you're the right candidate? Does the idea of guiding kids while they make decisions for themselves excite you? Are you calm under pressure and able to calm those around you? Can you lead groups of kids on your own while still collaborating with a team? Do you have the stamina to keep up with 4–12‑year‑olds’ energy and creativity? Can you lift up to 40 pounds? Are you passionate about sharing your knowledge and learning something new (even if a third‑grader is teaching)? Job Requirements At least 16 years of age Minimum of 2 months experience working with children aged 6–12, with 1 year preferred, in a professional, personal, or volunteer setting First Aid & CPR certified before Day 1 of camp (additional certifications may be required at some locations) By applying and accepting an offer, you consent to email or text communications from Steve & Kate's. Physical Requirements This position requires compliance with all applicable health, safety, and physical screening requirements. You will work in a school‑aged camp setting, providing supervision, care, program delivery, and services in accordance with company policies and legal regulations, ensuring the safety of all children.
