Position Overview

Stand-By Personnel is seeking experienced Structural Welders and Fitters to join a premier manufacturer serving the natural gas industry in Tulsa. This position involves structural steel fabrication, fitting, and welding on large skid-mounted equipment while maintaining strict AWS welding standards and quality requirements.

The ideal candidate has strong structural welding and fitting experience, can read fabrication drawings, and is committed to producing high-quality work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Required Experience & Skills
• Previous structural welding and/or fitting experience required
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and general welding procedures
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 structural welding standards
• Experience working with I-beams ranging from 6 × 25 through 12 × 50
• Ability to fabricate large assemblies ranging from 8' × 20' to 16' × 50'
• Experience operating overhead cranes and forklifts
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Perform structural welding and fitting on heavy steel fabrication projects
• Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and welding specifications
• Fit, align, and weld structural steel components according to engineering requirements
• Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment safely
• Inspect completed welds and assemblies to ensure compliance with AWS and customer specifications
• Maintain productivity while meeting strict quality and safety standards
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with company safety policies
• Work closely with production teams to complete projects on schedule

Weld Test Requirements

Structural Welders

Candidates must successfully complete:
• Flux Core vision test on beam and pipe
• Welding in uphill, overhead, and flat positions on beam
• Flat position on pipe
• 3G Double-Bevel Butt Weld on 1-inch plate
• Carbon arc back gouge required, followed by fill and cap in the 3G position
• Test weld will be inspected to applicable code requirements

Structural Fitters
• Open-book written test required

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience fabricating equipment for the natural gas, oil & gas, or heavy industrial industries
• Experience with skid fabrication and pressure piping assemblies
• Current AWS welding certifications are a plus
• Strong fabrication, layout, and blueprint interpretation skills

Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and repetitive physical activity throughout the shift
• Ability to safely work around heavy steel, welding equipment, overhead cranes, and industrial machinery while wearing required PPE

Work Environment
• Heavy industrial manufacturing facility with 140,000 square feet of fabrication space
• Exposure to welding equipment, fabrication machinery, overhead cranes, heat, sparks, and heavy materials
• Fast-paced environment focused on quality, productivity, and safety
