Position: AVID Tutor

Work Schedule: Hours will vary but all work will occur during the regular academic day, 8:00am-3:00pm.

Start Date: Fall 2026

Pay: $19.16 per hour ($11.41 per hour for current students in the district)

Summary: AVID is a college-readiness program that targets students who are "in the academic middle," but who have potential for higher performance. AVID tutors play an integral role in supporting the students through a rigorous curriculum by serving as role models and mentors, and by taking an active role in developing the academic and personal strength of AVID students. Tutor training in AVID will be provided.

Required Qualifications:

• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work with middle and high school aged students
• Confidence working with assignments in a variety of subject areas and at various skill levels
• Role model and mentor capabilities
• Comfort working with diverse populations
• Ability to facilitate small student discussion groups
• Preparedness to work collaboratively with AVID teachers, students and other tutors
• Flexibility and ability to take initiative
• Participation in ongoing professional development throughout the school year
