Job Opportunity – Operating Room RN – West Virginia

Start Date: October 29, 2026

Location: Charleston, West Virginia

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, Days (06:45–19:15), with every other weekend call requirement. On-call commitment includes 1 day per week and 1-2 weekends per 4-5 week schedule with 30-minute response time. Average daily census of 22 cases.

Highlights:

• Work in a 838-bed Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital with a diverse surgical case mix
• Exposure to cardiovascular, general surgery, vascular, thoracic, robotic, orthopedic, ENT, urology, and gynecologic procedures
• Both circulating and scrubbing responsibilities with proficiency in vein and radial artery harvesting required
• Cerner EMR system with free parking provided for traveling professionals
• Orientation held every other week with 16 hours of onboarding support
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week with holiday coverage distributed fairly

Requirements:

• Active West Virginia or Compact RN License (pending license accepted for submission)
• Minimum 2 years RN experience with at least 1 year of Operating Room specialty experience
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association
• MUST have cardiovascular surgery experience – this is non-negotiable
• Proficiency required in both circulating AND scrubbing roles
• Demonstrated competency in vascular procedures (AV fistulas/grafts, aortic surgeries, bypasses, carotids, embolectomies)
• Experience with orthopedic procedures (arthroscopies, total joints)
• General surgery expertise (colorectal/colon resections, laparoscopic procedures, Whipples, liver resections, thyroidectomies, mastectomies)
• ENT procedure experience (trachs, laryngectomies, radical neck dissections)
• Urology case knowledge (cystectomies, nephrectomies, prostatectomies, various implants)
• Robotic surgery experience (gynecologic, colorectal, hernias, laparoscopic Nissens)
• GYN procedure competency (abdominal/vaginal hysterectomies, posterior/anterior repairs)
• Permanent address located at least 100 miles from the facility (75-99 miles may be considered)
• Minimum 2 manager or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years
• Annual flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only during October 1 – March 31)
