Engineering Technician III - St. Louis County Department of Transportation and Public Works The Engineering Technician III is responsible for performing technical engineering work, including drafting, plan updates, construction and material inspection at roadway construction sites. Typical starting salary range: $23.10 - $27.72 hourly, depending on qualifications, experience, and budgetary considerations. Snow‑season employees required to work snow will receive a $6 per hour increase during emergency snow removal services. For full details, visit Essential Functions Review and interpret construction plans and coordinate construction scheduling. Inspect materials, work in progress and completed work for compliance with construction specifications, plans and procedures. Meet with, assess and inspect the work of contractors, consultants and company representatives and resolve issues. Document and prepare reports on work in progress and non‑compliance notices. Resolve issues presented by contractors and the general public. Perform safety checks of work sites and observe work in progress for compliance with established work procedures. Marginal Functions Perform a variety of routine field and laboratory testing procedures on construction materials to ensure conformance with specifications. Perform assigned duties during mandatory snow shift. Perform other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications Equivalent to college level coursework in engineering and mathematics, and three years of experience in roadway construction inspection or a related field. Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required within the first 6 months of employment.
