Technology Transfer Specialist

Qualifications BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Requires a Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree with a major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Requires one full year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: applying technology transfer laws, policies, rules, methods, and procedures to plan and develop negotiating strategies and business terms, as they relate to Technology Transfer; developing marketing plans to identify prospective industry inventions that result from work performed at research facilitates; and develops and implements marketing plans to identify prospective industry development partners for inventions. For more information on these qualification standards, please visit the United States Office of Personnel Management's website at PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK CONDITIONS: The work involves mostly office posture, with long periods of sitting or standing in one position, intense concentration, and job-related pressure to meet critical legal deadlines. The position is primarily sedentary, although requires walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items (e.g., papers, books, files). Position also includes the occasional physical ability to meet with scientists and other staff, including travel to other medical centers, academic affiliates, and prospective licensees. The work is routinely performed in an office setting. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
