Database Architect

We are seeking an experienced Database Architect to implement an enterprise-wide Data Catalog / Master Data Management (MDM) solution supporting both structured and unstructured data.

The Database Architect will be responsible for configuring the semantic layer and data lineage required for AI tool discovery and enablement. The ideal candidate will bridge data engineering, data governance, database architecture, and AI consumption needs to ensure high-quality, well-documented, governed, and secure data assets are available for analytics, machine learning, and generative AI use cases.

The candidate will also establish continuous processes to keep the Data Catalog/MDM solution updated as changes occur while maintaining data quality and consistency.

• Implement and support an enterprise-wide Data Catalog and MDM solution .
• Manage metadata and data assets across both structured and unstructured data sources.
• Configure and maintain semantic/context layers to support AI tool discovery and enablement.
• Establish and maintain data lineage across enterprise data environments.
• Ensure enterprise data assets are properly documented, governed, classified, and secured.
• Establish processes to continuously update catalog and MDM information as source systems change.
• Maintain data quality, consistency, accuracy, and governance standards.
• Work with data engineering, governance, security, analytics, and AI/ML teams.
• Design and implement APIs supporting metadata harvesting, automation, and event-driven integration .
• Integrate enterprise data catalog and MDM platforms with data sources and cloud environments.
• Support data modeling and database architecture across Oracle and SQL Server environments.
• Work with AWS and Azure cloud technologies and data platforms, including AWS Data Lake.
• Support AI/ML initiatives through semantic/context layer design and integration.
• Evaluate and support vector databases and feature stores where applicable.
• Develop Python scripts and automation solutions for metadata and data management processes.
• Use GitHub for source control and collaboration.
• Support data governance, classification, security, lineage, integration, and transformation initiatives.

• 7+ years of experience working as an Enterprise Database Architect with experience implementing MDM/Data Catalog solutions .
• 4+ years of experience as a Data Modeler/DBA with Oracle and SQL Server RDBMS .
• 4+ years of experience with enterprise Data Catalog platforms such as:
  • Microsoft Purview
  • Collibra
  • Alation
  • Similar enterprise data catalog platforms
• 3+ years of experience with AI/ML technologies and semantic/context layer design and integration.
• 3+ years of experience with cloud technologies and tools in AWS and Azure .
• Experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS Data Lake .
• 3+ years of experience with Data Governance, data classification, and data security .
• 2+ years of experience with Data Lineage, Integration, and Transformation tools , such as:
  • Informatica
  • Fivetran
  • Similar tools
• 2+ years of experience with API design for metadata harvesting, automation, and event-driven integration.
• 2+ years of experience with vector databases and/or feature stores preferred.
• 2+ years of experience with Python scripting preferred.
• 2+ years of experience working with Texas State Government agencies preferred.
• 1+ year of experience using GitHub .
