Physical Therapy Aide

Job Summary The Physical Therapy Aide is an employee of the Physical Therapy Specialty Center (PTSC), a division of Primary Care Partners. The Aide assists with operational flow of clinic needs as assigned. Duties/Responsibilities Patient Direct Care Assist in patient education and exercise performance; provide written or copied materials as needed. Set up, perform, and monitor modalities as directed by PT. Set up and perform initial VA pre-employment screens per protocol. Coordinate and maintain multi-patient needs. Assist PTs in direct care with patients as requested. Inform PT or PT supervisor of patient concerns, complaints, and observations. Assist patients out of the clinic if needed and transfer equipment. Maintain yearly competencies. Patient Indirect Care Assist patients in checking in and scheduling appointments. Score and record index questionnaires; review paperwork to ensure completeness. Make confirmation calls for follow up/reschedule appointments. Monitor daily schedule and assist PTs/clinic staff with changes. Call patients who no-show to reschedule. Distribute cancellation/no-show lists to all PTs weekly. Contact medical offices for support documents (diagnostic results, dictated notes, etc.). Review patient clinic documentation to assist in treatment plan of care. Equipment Prepare designated equipment for patients (exercise balls, Theraband, etc.). Monitor and perform daily cleaning of equipment. Perform weekly cleaning per schedule. Clinic Perform morning and evening clinic functions (startup/shutdown computers, lights, etc.). Clean and stock all treatment rooms with linens and brochures. Laundry clinic linens. Follow safe handling procedures at all times. Monitor and report supply needs. Work Experience Preferred: Healthcare setting, computer experience. Education Requirements High school graduate, preferred. General Requirements Must work under pressure, be detail oriented, have good work ethics and communication skills, and must be able to work well with supervisor and other staff members. Position Type / Expected Hours of Work Full-time position, 40 hours a week. Works primarily during day shift. Hours may change at any time with or without notice. Risk Level High Exposure. Working Environment Professional office environment with outpatient medical exam rooms. Physical Demands Frequent bending and lifting; ability to assist patients with therapy activities. Lifts up to 50 pounds to chest height and maintains good body mechanics. Sits and provides computer input frequently. Squats, kneels, and bends frequently during the day.
