Alumni Summer Faculty

Alumni Summer Faculty role supports the Marshall Teacher Residency Summer Coursework Intensive by helping establish and sustain an inclusive culture of learning from the start of the program. Responsibilities include supporting resident engagement, facilitating coursework sessions, providing 1:1 check‑ins and small‑group facilitation, and addressing resident needs related to time management, technology systems, and transition to residency year. What You’ll Do The role will be approximately 20 hours per week during the weeks of June 22, July 6, July 13, and July 20. All work is completed remotely over Zoom. Coursework facilitation: circulate during morning sessions to support small‑group discussions aligned to program values and norms. Lead weekly book‑club groups for Residents. Lead daily opening routines such as warm‑ups and community‑building structures. Facilitate closing reflections to consolidate learning and build cohort culture. Resident support in 1:1 and small‑group settings: provide check‑ins and support based on individual needs. Facilitate workshops and coaching in project completion and academic support, organization and time management, navigating residency systems and expectations, and financial planning and logistics. Program collaboration: participate in daily faculty huddles, weekly planning meetings, share observational data and insights to support cohort‑wide and individual decision‑making. Contribute to continuous improvement of the Summer Intensive. Who You Are You are aligned with the mission and values of the Marshall Teacher Residency and seek to act in alignment with those values. You are a graduate of the Marshall Teacher Residency, a strong discussion facilitator, and are excited to help build a rigorous, engaging culture of learning at the start of the program. You are eager to push Residents to deeply understand coursework material and to productively engage with complexity, tension, and uncertainty. You believe in the power of mentorship and are excited to be a near‑peer mentor, supporting Residents throughout the summer and as they transition to their school sites. You are collaborative and proactive in sharing observations, helping the team understand strengths and needs of the new cohort, and adapting quickly to ensure all Residents are successful. You have a learner’s mindset and know that giving and receiving honest, actionable, and timely feedback helps us grow. What You Need Prior experience in the Marshall Teacher Residency. At least 2 years teaching experience as a teacher of record. Excitement to mentor and teach adult learners. Meet health clearance and pass a background/criminal check, per education code.
