Public Health Assistant Clinic Unit Manager

Department of Public Health (DPH), Clinic Operations is hiring for an Assistant Clinic Unit Manager . This position works closely with the Clinic Unit Manager by assisting with the supervision of staff at assigned Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) and Public Health Clinics. The recruitment will fill a vacancy for a High Desert position located at the Hesperia Public Health Clinic. Responsibilities Supervise and direct the work of Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, and Medical Assistants assigned to the Clinics. Ensure smooth workflow for patient service delivery; establish work priorities, deadlines, and performance standards for clinical support staff. Assist the Clinic Unit Manager with the development of goals and objectives for performance improvement and quality management activities. Assist in leading the development and implementation of orientation programs, in-services, and education programs for clinical support staff in collaboration with Nurse Educators. Assist with work performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and hiring. Prepare schedules and oversee payroll time and attendance processing, including approving time off. Assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, ensuring assignments are made based on knowledge, skills, and competency level while meeting patient needs. Assist in the development and implementation of continuous patient experience improvement efforts. Perform professional nursing duties as needed. Conditions of Employment Pre‑Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening. Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be expected to arrange transportation. License: Must possess and maintain a current license as a Registered Nurse with the State of California Board of Registered Nursing. Certification: Must possess and maintain a current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Experience: Two (2) years as a Registered Nurse in an outpatient primary‑care, ambulatory or clinic setting. The ideal candidate will have at least three (3) years of Charge Nurse or Lead experience in an outpatient primary‑care, ambulation or clinic setting. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Management or a related field is highly desired.
