Safety Coordinator

Responsibilities The Staff Safety team at Mayo Clinic seeks an experienced professional with a robust background in Safety Management Systems. The role focuses on safety consulting and resource support, directing activities within the safety program in a customer‑focused environment. Key duties include: Participating in the administration of the safety program, including budget and resource allocation. Developing and facilitating safety policies, procedures, and educational programs. Conducting safety audits, performing hazard assessments, interpreting results, and implementing solutions. Analyzing and interpreting data to support decision making while maintaining confidentiality. Additional responsibilities may involve working as a safety consultant and collaborating with staff on safety‑related projects. Qualifications Master’s degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or related field (within two years of hire). Minimum five (5) years of occupational safety or emergency management experience, including design of independent projects and data analysis. Ability to develop and implement procedures independently, with strong technical knowledge and understanding of safety regulations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong presentation and training abilities. Computer proficiency (word processing, spreadsheets, databases); PC use knowledge. Healthcare safety experience preferred. Certification as CSP, CIH, or CEM required within two years of hire. Non‑sponsorship of visas for this position. Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity. Schedule Full Time, 80 hours per pay period. Normal business hours with ability to flex; periodic on‑call for off‑hours and weekend coverage.
