Traveling Railroad Carman

This hands-on role is ideal for individuals with railcar repair experience, strong mechanical skills, and a commitment to quality workmanship and safety.
Location: Kansas City, KS Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday with occasional overtime

Position summary & responsibilities:
Inspect, maintain, and repair railcars to customers and AAR standards while supporting safe freight operations. Key duties include:
- Inspecting railcars for damage, wear, and serviceability
- Performing repairs and documenting inspections and completed work
- Identifying repair needs beyond company capabilities
- Lubricating components and applying required stenciling
- Assisting with railcar cleaning and preparation
- Operating company vehicles and equipment, including pickups, ATVs, tractors, and service vehicles
- Maintaining a clean work area and following all safety procedures
Qualifications:
- Railcar repair or rail industry experience preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Welding experience required (4G, 5G, and stick welding)
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools
- Ability to work outdoors and perform physically demanding tasks
- Valid driver's license required
