Behavioral Health TechnicianOrganization: Northern Ohio Recovery Association (NORA)Location: Cleveland, OhioReports to: Program ManagerPosition SummaryNorthern Ohio Recovery Association (NORA), a nonprofit organization committed to promoting longterm recovery and wellness through peer-based support and evidence-based treatment services, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Behavioral Health Technician. This role will be responsible for keeping order and security in the facility, monitoring the clients and assisting them with their needs and is expected to model recovery principles and prosocial behavior.Key ResponsibilitiesMonitoring the sign in/out bookMonitoring all program activities and maintaining a record of them in the shift log bookAdvocating for client's daily necessitiesAnswering residents' questions that do not demand a counselor's immediate attentionSupervising clients as they complete daily choresFacilitating recreational activities for residentsMonitoring telephone usageCollecting urine sample and breath tests from residents as neededEnsuring afterhours order and security at the facilityDocumenting any unusual incidents that occur during a shift to the Clinical DirectorEnforcing all program rules and regulationsDriving clients to and from appointments (if applicable)Observing and documenting clients while they take medicationsResponsible for orienting new residents to the home and ensure that all policies and procedures are explained to new residentsEnsure that house meetings occur weekly and all residents are in attendance.Will be present in the home at least four days a week (dependent upon the individual's schedule) to ensure the house is free from alcohol and illicit substances, residents are following the Code of Conduct, there are no prohibited items in the home, and to check on residentResponsible for examining the physical property four days a week, spending enough time at the home to be ensure that residents are accounted for and do not need additional support, and the house is free from substance useResponsible to be available in case any resident needs additional support or has a question.Responsible for helping monitor residents for any potential warning signs concerning the recurrence of symptoms and refer them for more supportResponsible to check in with the residents on a daily basis.Responsible to meet with residents at least weekly to discuss and document their recovery plansResponsible for ensuring that the safety equipment in the home is in working orderWill be responsible for being on site whenever clients are present, including overnights and weekends (dependent upon the individual's schedule)QualificationsIf the applicant has a history of substance use, a minimum of two (2) years of continuous sobriety is required (actively working a program of recovery)Ability to maintain an orderly and constructive atmosphere and ensure the equitable treatment of residentsAbility to work independently without supervisionAbility to be assertive and consistent in dealings with clients and cope effectively in crisis situationsBasic knowledge of crisis intervention skillsPreferred SkillsGood verbal and interpersonal communication skillsCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary commensurate with experience.Health, dental, and vision insurance.Paid time off and holidays.Professional development opportunities.Amount of TravelMinimal, mostly confined to the Ohio Area.Salary RangeThis is a paid position and salary will be rated based on experience
