Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor

Position Overview
The Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor leads a team of maintenance technicians to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operation of industrial equipment and facilities. This role combines hands-on mechanical expertise with supervisory responsibilities, driving preventive maintenance programs, coordinating repairs, and enforcing safety and compliance standards to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, and schedule maintenance mechanics and technicians to meet daily and long-term maintenance objectives.
• Develop, implement, and oversee preventive maintenance (PM) programs to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment service life.
• Assign, monitor, and participate in troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems on production and facility equipment.
• Coordinate and prioritize work orders, repairs, and emergency responses while maintaining clear communication with production, engineering, and management teams.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and regulatory requirements; lead safety meetings and training as needed.
• Perform and oversee welding, fabrication, and equipment modification tasks to support production needs and continuous improvement projects.
• Manage inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies; recommend purchases and maintain cost control for maintenance operations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment histories, and production downtime reports; analyze trends to recommend reliability improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations on capital projects, equipment installation, and upgrades, providing mechanical insights and resource planning.
• Coach and evaluate team performance, conduct training to develop technical skills, and participate in recruiting and onboarding new maintenance staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on maintenance mechanic experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Proven experience developing and executing preventive maintenance programs and managing maintenance teams.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated skills in troubleshooting and repairing industrial machinery and equipment.
• Required skills: Preventive Maintenance, Maintenance Supervisor demonstrated in previous roles.
• Proficient knowledge of hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electrical systems, HVAC, welding, and fabrication (nice-to-have but highly desirable).
• Experience with machinery maintenance, industrial equipment repair, and predictive/troubleshooting techniques.
• Familiarity with safety compliance programs, lockout/tagout, OSHA standards, and best practices for a safe working environment.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and maintenance manuals.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
• High school diploma or GED required; technical diploma, vocational training, or relevant certifications (e.g., HVAC, welding, electrical, pneumatic/hydraulic) preferred.
