Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Position Details

• Specialty: Respiratory Therapy

• Setting: Acute Care Hospital / ICU / ER / Med-Surg

• Contract Type: 13 Weeks (Travel or Temp Assignment)

• Schedule: Variable shifts (Days/Nights; weekends & holidays as needed)

• Patient Population: Neonates, Pediatrics, Adults, and Geriatrics (depending on facility)

Certifications & Licensure

• Required:

  • Current RRT License (NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist)

  • BLS Certification

• Preferred:

  • ACLS, PALS, NRP depending on patient population

  • State license (if applicable)

Experience

• Minimum 1–2 years of recent respiratory therapy experience (ICU/ER preferred)

• Proficiency with ventilator management, airway care, and oxygen therapy

• Experience in critical care and emergency settings preferred

Core Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care and therapy to patients as prescribed by physicians.

• Manage ventilator settings (invasive & non-invasive) and monitor patient responses.

• Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis , interpret results, and adjust therapy accordingly.

• Administer aerosolized medications , oxygen therapy, and chest physiotherapy.

• Assist with intubations, extubations, and airway management procedures .

• Educate patients and families about respiratory conditions and home care equipment.

• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and care.

• Maintain equipment (ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP machines, oxygen delivery devices) and ensure compliance with infection control standards.

• Document patient assessments, treatments, and outcomes in the EMR.

• Respond to codes and rapid response situations .
