Lead Financial Accountant

About this role:Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Financial Accountant to join the Deposits, Digital Assets, and Operations Group Controller team. In this role, you will oversee key accounting and financial reporting activities, lead complex initiatives impacting deposits and digital assets, and drive the development of a new Digital Assets Accounting Center of Excellence.The successful candidate will also provide technical accounting expertise, guidance on risks and controls, direct month-end close and external reporting processes and partner with senior business and finance leaders.In this role, you will:Act as a lead Consultant for financial accounting related matters for lines of business and other control functionsApply a broad and deep functional expertise on accounting in order to influence and provide direction to Management on highly sensitive situations or negotiationsProvide technical expertise regarding accounting issues, regulatory information and researchProvide technical assistance on major transactions and product developmentProvide data for preparing and reviewing financial and regulatory reportsCommunicate practices and procedures for proper financial control functions in accordance with the company's internal controls policiesArticulate the impact of policy changes to management within business group or organizationApply extensive specialized knowledge and act as an internal consultant or final authority in area of expertiseProvide technical interpretation on matters and a key change agent in building and adopting best practices within the functional areaLead implementation of the most complex projects or initiatives impacting multiple lines of business or across the enterpriseIdentify compliance and risk management requirements for supported area and works with other stakeholders to implement key risk initiativesProvide strategic consultation to leadershipInterface with external agencies, regulatory bodies or industry forumsProvide work guidance or mentorship to other peersRequired Qualifications:5+ years of Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Financial Reporting, Accounting Reporting or Risk Reporting experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, educationCertified Public Accountant (CPA) licensingDesired Qualifications:Previous Public accounting experience with a solid understanding of financial reporting, audit processes, accounting principles, and regulatory compliance requirements.Extensive accounting and leadership experience, including mentoring, developing, and guiding high-performing teamsExperience leading projects and mentoring small teams to successfully deliver business objectives.Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Job Expectations:Relocation assistance is not available for this positionThis position offers a hybrid work scheduleThis position is not eligible for Visa sponsorshipSpecific compliance policies may apply regarding outside activities or personal investing; affected employees will be expected to provide information to the Wells Fargo Personal Account Dealing Team and abide by applicable policy requirements if hired.
