Automation Controls Technician

Becton Dickinson seeks an Automation Controls Technician to support and maintain automated manufacturing systems at their Sumter, South Carolina facility. The role involves hands-on work with electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems, PLC troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and collaboration with production and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Setup and maintain electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems on production equipment
• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance and document activities to prevent downtime
• Diagnose and repair equipment issues using PLC systems and technical schematics
• Maintain accurate equipment logs including downtime, maintenance actions, and process changes
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve processes and resolve issues

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED plus minimum 4 years manufacturing or industrial experience
• Associate degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Electronics, or related technical field preferred
• Hands-on experience analyzing schematics, wiring diagrams, and applying Ohm's Law
• Foundational PLC programming knowledge and ladder logic interpretation ability
• Troubleshooting proficiency with electrical and mechanical systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
