Director of Health Services

Position Summary Leads nursing services, ensuring high‑quality care, regulatory compliance, and effective clinical operations; provides emergency response; coordinates care plans; supervises healthcare personnel. Essential Job Functions Hire, train, evaluate, and coach healthcare personnel; supervise the medication room, caregivers, and medication assistants. Plan, implement, and schedule nursing services; provide interventions for emergencies and problems. Maintain medical charting and documentation per state licensing and corporate standards; monitor residents for changes and notify providers, home health, hospice, POA, and Executive Director as appropriate. Administer/coordinate medications; manage orders and refills; collaborate with families to develop and implement care plans; coordinate medical appointments and transportation. Participate in on‑call rotation; ensure OSHA/back support compliance; enforce dress code, pager, and ID standards; liaise with physicians for orders and supplies; schedule staff and secure call‑off coverage; notify families in emergencies; assist with incident reports. Experience Two (2) years in assisted living/memory care preferred; one (1) year EMAR experience preferred. Knowledge/Skills Excellent written and verbal communication, leadership, and teaching; ability to work consultatively at regional and facility levels. Comfort with Gardens Care’s approved systems is required: Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail, Calendar, Meet), ECP (care management), Sagely (life enrichment/activity documentation), and ADP (timekeeping, payroll, scheduling). Special Requirements Coordinate resident care and clinic appointments; on‑call availability; maintain confidentiality of medical records; medical clearance. Tools & Equipment Computer; printer/copier/scanner; fax; pager; cell phone. Physical Activities Lift/carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally; push/pull up to 100 lbs. occasionally; climb/reach/ bend/twist occasionally; sit ~4 hrs; stand/walk ~4 hrs per 8‑hr day. Physical Requirements Light work – up to 20 lbs. occasionally. Visual Requirements Clerical/administrative tasks, including computer use and reading. Indoor/outdoor work, including visits to healthcare partners; potential exposure to typical clinical hazards managed through policy. In the course of their duties, employees may encounter residents with a range of medical and health‑related needs.
