Clerk Messenger, Sr., Full Time - Days

Provides secretarial support for the department of Revenue Cycle. Performs a wide variety of clerical duties and manages the day-to-day office support needs. Assists with other departmental tasks as needed.

Essential Functions

• Performs receptionist/secretarial duties such as greeting visitors, answering phones, directing inquiries, and performing such duties in an efficient way with a pleasant demeanor. Competently navigates personal computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, internet browsers, etc.
• Knowledge of Epic hospital account and patient look up for document indexing purposes
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel across the Medical Center
• Scanning/indexing of documents in On Base to ensure documentation is attached to the appropriate medical record. Manual scanning of USPS mail, and distribution to appropriate team member to ensure the resolution of correspondence and follow up can be done timely. Will include UCM and NWI.
• Supports the Patient Account Quality Assurance activity via data entry methods: manages internal and external billing audit communications for all audit-related correspondence
• Responsible for sorting, opening and distributing all mail delivered to the Burr Ridge Office via U.S. Mail, FedEx, UPS, and interoffice mail deliveries from the main Hospitals
• Prepares labels, certified mailings and other outgoing correspondence for the mail

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma is required. Associates and/or Bachelor’s degree is preferable.
• Strong organizational skills required to keep up with large volumes of paperwork.
• Excellent interpersonal skills required, due to interaction with various internal departments, external vendors and employment candidates.
• Individual must have a professional demeanor, be able to work independently and take initiative in following all tasks to completion.
• Working knowledge of office machines (i.e., scanner, copier, fax).
• Prior knowledge of personal computer with experience in Microsoft Office suite
• Type a minimum of 40 WPM

Compensation & Benefits Overview

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
