About the Position

Job Title: Surgical Tech Profession: Surgical Technology Specialty: Surgical Technology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: Three 12-hour shifts, 0900-2130 on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor required Certifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required Must-Have: Strong background in Orthopedic procedures, particularly total joints Description: Facilitates physician performance of invasive and therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure and constantly monitors the maintenance of the sterile field. Verifies surgery to be performed with consent forms and brings patient to the assigned operating room. Passes instruments to the surgeon during the procedure. Anticipates surgeon's needs for additional supplies. Performs appropriate counts with the circulator prior to the operation and before closure of the incision. Prepares sterile dressings and secures them after incision closure. Checks supplies and equipment needed for the surgical procedure. Obtains appropriate sterile and unsterile items needed for the procedure. Sets up a sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions required for the procedure. Helps drape the sterile field. Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization. Assists other members of the team with cleaning the room for turnover. Assists in prepping the room for the next patient. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
