Medical Office Assistant

Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a provider, such as scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing and coding information for insurance purposes, taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, and preparing patients for examination.

Understands and adheres to Baxter Health standards and policies. Required to work within Baxter Health Clinics regularly to carry out, initiate and/or implement best practices for the Baxter Health Clinics.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience: Minimum two (2) years related work experience preferred. Previous medical office experience preferred. Ability to read, write and communicate effectively. Basic computer knowledge required.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, twist up to or exceeding 8 to 10 hours during shift(s). Able to push in excess of 150 pound wheelchair with patient or equipment. Spends 8 hours or more in front of computer, monitor or similar screen utilizing keyboard and/or mouse. Must be able to handle critical and highly stressful situations with efficiency and composure. May be subject to inside environmental conditions, hazards (including electrical currents and exposure to high heat and chemicals) and infectious disease.

Work Environment: Medical office setting, within a clinic environment. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a position in an outpatient clinical setting. Work schedule, 5 days a week, Monday Friday, 8-hour shifts.
