Project Lead - Structured Cabling

Job Summary The Project Lead - Structured Cabling will act as the on-site coordinator and supervisor of several Crew Leads – Structured Cabling for voice and data installation projects. The Project Lead's task is to ensure job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining the efficiency of the staff assigned to the project. General Job Duties and Responsibilities The Project Lead will consistently run major project crews, assume responsibility for effective performance and provide necessary training, ensure adherence to Company and customer safety, quality guidelines, hold weekly safety meetings, initiate performance-related communications, and escalates to Project Manager if needed. Coordinating with Project Manager to ensure productivity, job completion, and compliance with the project budget. Fully completes all IES COMMERCIAL and project paperwork accurately and on time (e.g., timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers, and others as required). Performs quality checks, coordinates moves, and creates cut sheets for voice and data cross‑connects, prepares red‑lined as‑built drawings. Serves as main on‑site customer contact for questions and/or concerns; attends facility and construction meetings when required. Performs work consistently, demonstrating a detailed level of technical knowledge, troubleshoots, and resolves technical issues as they arise. Completes other responsibilities as assigned. Physical and Mental Requirements Must be self‑motivated, positive, professional, and help create, develop, and implement project process improvements. Promotes company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners. Acts as company liaison for interface with customer representatives. Possesses proven problem‑solving skills, critical thinking skills, and the ability to read, write, and give oral presentations. Able to stand and walk frequently on large job sites. Capable of working at various heights on a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds. Can distinguish colors, read small print, and recognize audible signals such as dial tones. Able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed. Regular attendance is mandatory. Tools Screwdriver (regular and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle‑nose and channel locks), hammer, cable stripper, flashlight, and gloves. Punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX, butt set, volt‑ohmmeter, 4‑pair continuity tester, and 5‑gang punch tool. Qualifications Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements: High School diploma or GED equivalency. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field. Ability to terminate fiber. Minimum of six (6) months of supervisory and/or managerial experience. Proficient with the listed tools. Proven skills in interpreting blueprints and other project documents, including specifications, reporting, and quality requirements. Knowledge of universal communications color codes. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project). Meets company minimum driving standards.
