Job Summary

As a Patient Access Specialist I, you will be responsible for registering patients using specialized software, verifying insurance and benefits, and managing referrals and pre-authorizations. You will conduct patient interviews prior to visits, handle point-of-service collections including co-pays and balances, and maintain daily cash drawer operations. Your communication skills will be essential as you operate a multi-line phone system, respond to inquiries, and relay information to staff promptly and professionally.

Key Responsibilities

• Schedule and register patients accurately, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
• Verify insurance coverage, referrals, and pre-authorizations.
• Collect patient financial responsibilities at point of service and manage cash drawer.
• Operate multi-line telephone systems to assist patients and staff.
• Complete administrative tasks including mail processing and workflow improvements.
• Participate actively in team activities and maintain a positive work environment.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred.
• Healthcare experience and knowledge of medical terminology are advantageous.
• Familiarity with healthcare revenue cycle processes is a plus.

Licenses and Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is encouraged.
