Network Engineer - Acacia (hybrid)

Job Title Network Engineer – onsite, minimum 3 days per week in office. Preferred location: Maynard, MA. Responsibilities Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches and enterprise routers, including OSPF, BGP, VLAN segmentation, and interVLAN routing. Maintain and optimize security policies, NAT rules, VPN tunnels, and ACLs on Cisco ASA and Firepower Threat Defense firewalls; configure 802.1X authentication with RADIUS. Monitor and configure Cisco SD‑WAN (Viptela/Meraki), Cisco ISE, Catalyst Center/DNA Center, and support DUO MFA for secure remote access. Use monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Cisco Catalyst Center) to proactively monitor network health; serve as escalation point for complex help‑desk issues; participate in on‑call rotation. Maintain network documentation and IPAM using NetBox; keep device inventory, rack diagrams, and circuit tracking up to date. Develop and maintain SOPs, configuration backups, IP schemas, and change management records; collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and ISPs on projects and upgrades. Minimum Qualifications 3+ years of professional experience in network engineering or IT infrastructure. Experience with Cisco IOS and NX‑OS CLI. Knowledge of OSI model, TCP/IP, subnetting, DNS/DHCP, VLANs, OSPF, and BGP. Experience with IPAM, asset management, and network documentation tools. Experience with network monitoring platforms (SolarWinds, PRTG) and troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, ping, traceroute). Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with firewall ACLs, NAT, VPNs, and 802.1X/RADIUS authentication. Experience with Cisco ISE, Catalyst Center/DNA Center, Meraki SD‑WAN, Cisco ASA/FTD, and DUO MFA. Active CCNA or CCNP Enterprise certification (or equivalent). Exposure to cloud networking environments such as AWS VPC or Azure Virtual Network, including hybrid cloud connectivity. Experience with network automation and scripting tools such as Python or Ansible. Experience in regulated industries (healthcare, finance, or government) with compliance and security best practices. Experience with NetBox (custom fields, webhooks, API integrations) for network automation. Hands‑on experience with VMware virtualization platforms (vSphere, vCenter, NSX‑T) and virtual networking concepts. Familiarity with enterprise storage solutions (SAN, NAS, hyper‑converged) and integration protocols (iSCSI, NFS, Fibre Channel). Experience with SD‑WAN platforms or next‑generation firewall technologies beyond Cisco. Experience with DevOps or IaC practices for network provisioning and configuration management. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Other Requirements Travel: willing to travel domestically and internationally for installations, hardware deployments, and on‑site troubleshooting. On‑call: minimum of two weeks per quarter. Physical: ability to lift, carry, and maneuver equipment; mount routers, servers, and switches in data‑center racks. Compensation Salary range: $114,700.00 – $145,500.00 (U.S. and/or Canada). Additional compensation, benefits, and bonuses are determined by location, experience, and qualifications.
