Senior Estimator Heavy Civil Construction

Title: Senior Estimator - Heavy Civil Construction
Location: Lakeside, CA 92040 (San Diego County)
Salary: $140,000 - $180,000 + Bonus + Relocation Allowance

Founded in 1947, we are a 300 employee general engineering contractor with approximately 150 employees based at our Lakeside, CA facility. We specialize in heavy civil construction, including road improvements, underground utilities, mass excavation, and concrete structures. At the Lakeside location, our focus is on large scale public works and private development projects. We serve industries such as transportation, municipal infrastructure, and commercial development, with clients including Caltrans, local municipalities, and private developers. The Senior Estimator will lead the preparation of accurate, competitive bids and cost estimates for complex heavy civil projects.

What You Will Be Doing  

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for mass excavation, paving, underground utilities, and concrete structures
• Interpret Caltrans specifications and public works bidding requirements to ensure compliance
• Lead bid preparation and proposal development, coordinating with project managers and engineers
• Utilize crew based estimating techniques and cost data systems to develop accurate estimates
• Provide analytical insight to management on cost trends, risks, and opportunities

What You Need for this Position

• 10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating and project management
• Strong knowledge of excavation, paving, underground utilities, and concrete structures
• Familiarity with Caltrans specifications and public works bidding processes
• Proficiency in crew based estimating, cost data interpretation, and efficiency improvement
• Experience with Hard Dollar estimating software and Primavera P6 scheduling tools
• Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, leadership, and collaboration skills, with OSHA safety certification preferred
