Hospitality Apprentice — Back of House (BOH)

Cream City Concepts — Milwaukee, WI Part-time | $15/hour | Ages 16–18 | Starts June 2026

About the Program

This structured apprenticeship introduces high school students (grades 10–12) to kitchen operations, food preparation, and teamwork in a professional restaurant environment. The program runs from summer 2026 through the 2027–2028 school year. If you're interested in cooking, food service, or just want to see what happens behind the scenes in a real working kitchen — this is for you.

Where You'll Work

You'll get to pick your preferred location when you apply:

• Who's on Third — Downtown Milwaukee
• Oak Barrel Public House — Downtown Milwaukee
• Who's on Layton — Near the airport

What You'll Learn & Do

Prep Support

• Assist with basic prep (washing, portioning, assembling)
• Learn food safety and sanitation practices

Kitchen Support / Utility

• Dishwashing and maintaining a clean kitchen
• Stocking and organizing supplies

Line Observation & Assistance

• Assist with simple, supervised tasks
• Learn kitchen workflow and communication

Expo (Introductory Learning)

• Help organize dishes and learn plating basics
• Support coordination between FOH and BOH

Apprenticeship Requirements

• Complete 450 total hours by the end of the 2027–2028 school year
• Submit two written reflections/projects (one mid-year, one end-of-year)
• Maintain consistent attendance and participation
• Follow all workplace policies and expectations
• Completion of the program does not guarantee permanent employment

Important Notes (Age-Based Responsibilities)

• No operation of hazardous equipment
• Tasks assigned based on age and legal guidelines
• Work performed under supervision
