About the Position

Job Title

Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU / IMC / Stepdown)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13 Weeks | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts | 36 Hours per Week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care on a 16-bed palliative, general medicine, and surgery unit with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Manage symptom management and end-of-life care for patients with conditions including cancer, heart disease, kidney disease, pulmonary disease, and neurological disease
• Administer and monitor various intravenous drips including insulin, heparin, morphine, and dilaudid
• Perform and manage procedures including epidurals, ventilator management, tracheotomy care, wound vac care, PCA management, ostomy care, Foley catheter care, and Dobhoff/NGT placement
• Conduct peripheral lab draws, arterial blood draws, IV starts, and central line management
• Participate in self-scheduling and collaborate with ancillary staff to support patient care

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact State license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Minimum 18 months of recent PCU, IMC, or Stepdown experience
• Proficiency with IV insertion and PICC line management
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
• Experience with Epic EMR

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Familiarity with palliative or inpatient hospice care settings
• Experience managing epidurals, vents, and complex intravenous drip protocols
