Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse

This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments, as this is a 24/7 hospital. The incumbent may be required to rotate tours and duties during low/high census or complete administrative tasks established by the immediate supervisor. Not all duties may be listed, so other duties may be assigned. The incumbent is responsible to ensure the highest possible quality of care is achieved and that a safe therapeutic environment is provided. The incumbent supervises care that is in accordance with established standards, hospital policies and procedures. The incumbent communicates with patients, family members, internal and external co-workers and customers in a courteous, tactful, helpful, and understanding manner. The incumbent is administratively responsible to the Nurse Manager and responsible for other team members. The RN is required to be BLS and ACLS certified. Position not eligible for telework.

Cath Lab Duties:

• The incumbent circulates and assists with the various Cardiac Cath Lab procedures, and some Echo Lab procedures and Pain Procedures
• The incumbent administers medication, including ACLS medications & anticoagulants.
• The incumbent administers moderate sedation with the appropriate patient monitoring, assessment, & documentation.
• The incumbent is responsible for monitoring patients during Cath procedures, including continuous ECG & hemodynamic monitoring, identification of cardiac arrhythmias, and response for medications and treatments.
• The incumbent must operate complex radiographic, angiographic, and digital recording equipment. - The incumbent post-procedure, provides care to patients during both sedation and procedural recovery and assists in arterial & venous sheath removal.
• The incumbent demonstrates ability to work cooperatively with others, displaying exemplary interpersonal communication skills & congenial relationships with colleagues
• The incumbent must possess a high level of self-motivation, with the ability to function independently & in conjunction with the cardiology team
• The incumbent must be able/willing to wear lead protective covering & withstand long periods of standing while working around x-ray generating equipment.
• The incumbent operates/assists in operation of various Cath Lab Lab specific equipment in sterile environments under direction of provider.
• The incumbent participates in case management of the Cath Lab patient population, i.e., ensuring appropriate use of outpatient services, providing pre & post procedure patient education, & maintains the Cath Lab data base.
• The incumbent participates in quality management monitors and conducts quality control procedures on certain equipment.
• The incumbent exports procedure reports to archival system.
• The incumbent participates in the ordering & maintenance of adequate inventory by accurately reporting usage, waste, and expiration of supplies and equipment. The incumbent will ensure that implanted devices are documented in patient record and consult initiated for replacement
