Instructional Technologist / Curriculum Specialist

Job Summary The Martha Bradley Evans Center for Teaching Excellence (MBECTE) at the University of Utah is hiring a full‑time Instructional Consultant with expertise in supporting evidence‑based teaching practices that foster student success and reduce barriers to learning. The ideal candidate will have experience in student success initiatives and higher education instruction, and the skills and flexibility to contribute to a wide variety of faculty development programming. Responsibilities Support MBECTE’s role in broad university student success initiatives (e.g., accessibility, durable skills, reduction of high‑DEWI courses). Promote teaching excellence through faculty development, innovation, and recognition. Consult with faculty members on pedagogy issues (e.g., teaching techniques, curriculum development, educational technology). Develop and implement assessments to measure appropriateness and effectiveness of course content, materials, and teaching activities, events, programs, and technologies. Plan and host small and large pedagogical seminars, workshops, and/or conferences. Develop and/or oversee assigned MBECTE programs and projects. Teach and enhance various MBECTE‑sponsored courses (e.g., CTLE 6000/6510/6200). Develop and/or support interdepartmental and/or interdisciplinary projects. Provide support for various MBECTE programs, events, and team members to create a positive and professional work environment. Collaborate closely with MBECTE and various campus departments. Perform other MBECTE duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Graduate degree in Education or a related field, plus 2–4 years of experience, preferably in a higher education setting. Knowledge of learning theory and the ability to apply theory into practice. Excellent verbal communication skills. Familiarity with a variety of software (Adobe products, Microsoft Office, generative AI, and learning management systems). Strong technical writing skills. Ability to work individually and in a team setting. Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, or a related field. Experience in higher education faculty development or instructional support. Strong organizational and project management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and staff at all levels. Preferred Qualifications Doctorate in Education or a related field. Experience teaching in higher education.
