Customer Service Representative – Optum (Remote US) Optum, part of UnitedHealth Group, is hiring Customer Service Representatives to provide compassionate support to patients and members. This is a remote, full-time role available to candidates residing in Arizona, Nevada, Utah, or New Mexico . Job Title: Customer Service Representative I Company: Optum (UnitedHealth Group) Location: Remote (AZ, NV, UT, NM) Salary: $16.15–$28.80/hour (based on experience and local market) Contract Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week) Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM MST (occasional overtime) Role Overview You will answer inbound calls, assist customers with scheduling, insurance, and benefits, and resolve inquiries with empathy and accuracy. This role requires strong computer navigation skills and the ability to manage high call volumes while delivering excellent service. Key Responsibilities Handle 50–70 inbound calls daily, identifying customer needs Ask appropriate questions and document information in systems Research complex issues across multiple databases Partner with support teams to resolve escalated issues Schedule patient appointments and update demographics Provide compassionate, solution-oriented customer support Candidate Requirements High School diploma/GED OR equivalent experience Must be 18+ years old 1+ years of experience in a medical environment (phones/computers as primary tools) Knowledge of medical terminology Strong computer navigation skills (Windows applications) Ability to work full-time, Monday–Friday Preferred 1+ years of healthcare experience Ability to type 40+ words per minute Telecommuting Requirements Dedicated, private workspace Secure handling of sensitive documents High-speed internet connection approved by UnitedHealth Group Soft Skills Active listening and rapport-building Conflict management in stressful situations Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company contribution Paid time off Incentive and recognition programs Equity stock purchase plan How to Apply Apply directly via UnitedHealth Group’s careers portal .
