Radiology Technologist

Job Summary The X‑Ray Technologist will perform general and portable radiography exams, EKGs, and all duties related to the orderly function of the Department of Radiology. Essential Functions Complete and process radiographs Position and transfer patients Select proper technical factors on an individual patient basis Select and operate equipment Provide immobilization devices as required Provide protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards Process diagnostic images Review images for proper positioning, technique, and identification Ensure all exams are completed prior to leaving shift after checking with patient departments Respond for STAT x‑ray procedures; on‑call duty includes at least one weekend per month, one weeknight each week, and additional coverage as needed for PTO Operate the department in an efficient and effective manner under approved hospital and departmental policies and guidelines Follow hospital infection control policies Maintain adequate records Complete logbook, verify requisitions and orders coordination Maintain order and cleanliness of radiology department Transmit images and EKGs for reports and finalize information in the patient EMR Confirm images with correct orders are sent to PACS for the Radiologist Maintain effective client (physician, provider, and staff) and interdepartmental relations Interact with patients and families in a professional manner Act as a technical resource for the physician or clinical departments Perform EKGs Follow established departmental guidelines Prepare and send EKGs to the University of Chicago Department of Pediatric Cardiology for interpretation Deliver completed EKG interpretations to the physician and appropriate areas (nursing unit or medical records) Maintain technical expertise Attend continuing education workshops Maintain CPR certification Maintain current State of Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety license Maintain current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certificate Additional Functions Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications Education : Completion of a formal radiology technology training program at an AMA‑approved school (new graduates accepted) Related Work Experience : At least one (1) year experience in clinical radiology and experience with Digital Radiography Licenses and Certifications Current Illinois Radiology Technologist License required; accreditation by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency required and must be renewed every two years American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certificate required; annual renewal required La Rabida Children’s Hospital is very proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer. #J-18808-Ljbffr
