About the Role:

The Lathe Operator plays a critical role in our manufacturing process by precisely shaping and machining steel components to meet exact specifications. This position requires operating lathe machines to cut, shape, and finish steel parts used in various industrial applications, ensuring high-quality output and adherence to safety standards. The operator will interpret technical drawings and blueprints to set up and machine the parts accordingly, maintaining tolerances and consistent production quality to producing components that meet rigorous industry standards and customer requirements. Attention to detail and mechanical aptitude are essential to troubleshoot machine issues and perform routine maintenance to minimize downtime.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience operating a lathe in a manufacturing environment
• Basic understanding of mechanical drawings, blueprints, and machining symbols.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in machining or CNC lathe operation.
• Experience with CNC lathe programming and operation.
• Basic knowledge of metallurgy and steel properties.
• Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate lathe machines to cut, shape, and finish steel parts according to technical drawings and specifications.
• Inspect finished products for quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of lathe equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
• Adjust machine settings and tooling to accommodate different steel materials and part designs.
• Collaborate with production supervisors and quality control teams to meet production schedules and quality standards.
• Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues promptly to minimize production delays.
• Maintain accurate records of production output, machine maintenance, and quality inspections.

Skills:

The required skills enable the Lathe Operator to accurately interpret technical drawings and operate lathe machinery to produce steel components that meet precise specifications. Proficiency with measuring instruments ensures that parts are inspected and verified for quality and dimensional accuracy. Safety awareness and adherence to protocols are critical to maintaining a safe work environment while handling heavy machinery and steel materials. Preferred skills such as CNC programming and basic knowledge of metallurgy enhance the operator's ability to work with equipment to optimize machining processes. Strong problem-solving abilities allow the operator to quickly diagnose and resolve mechanical issues, ensuring continuous production flow and minimizing downtime.
