Family Law Associate Attorney

Bazan Law Firm LLC is seeking a Colorado-licensed Family Law Associate Attorney to join our growing practice. We are looking for an attorney who wants meaningful responsibility, enjoys substantive family-law work, and is comfortable taking ownership of cases rather than waiting for a managing attorney to direct every next step. What You Will Do The attorney will independently manage a Colorado family-law caseload that may include: Dissolution of marriage Allocation of parental responsibilities Parenting-time disputes Decision-making disputes Temporary Orders Permanent Orders Post-decree modifications Contempt and enforcement matters Discovery and financial disclosures Motions practice Settlement negotiations and mediation Hearings and trial preparation The attorney will be responsible for moving assigned cases forward, communicating with clients, maintaining deadlines, developing case strategy, drafting pleadings, preparing for hearings, and working collaboratively with the firm's paralegal and administrative team. The attorney may also conduct consultations with prospective clients. What Success Looks Like A successful attorney in this role will: Independently manage an appropriate family-law caseload. Identify what needs to happen next on assigned matters and move cases forward without repeated prompting. Meet all court and internal deadlines. Communicate with clients within the firm's required response time. Exercise sound legal judgment and bring proposed solutions when seeking input. Produce high-quality legal writing requiring minimal substantive revision as experience with the firm increases. Prepare appropriately for hearings, mediation, conferences, and trial. Maintain accurate and timely billing. Meet the firm's minimum production requirement of five billable hours per business day , measured in accordance with firm policy. Work effectively with paralegals, legal assistants, and other members of the team. Demonstrate increasing independence as onboarding and training are completed. Provide excellent legal representation while maintaining professional and respectful relationships with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and coworkers. Required Qualifications Juris Doctor degree. Active Colorado law license in good standing. Strong legal research and writing skills. Ability to independently manage deadlines and competing priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Professional judgment and willingness to take ownership of assigned matters. Ability to learn and effectively use the firm's technology and case-management systems. Preferred Qualifications Approximately 2–5 years of family-law experience . Experience independently managing Colorado domestic-relations matters. Experience appearing at Temporary Orders, Permanent Orders, contempt, or other family-law hearings. Familiarity with Colorado domestic-relations procedure and practice. Spanish proficiency is strongly preferred but not required. Have a sense of humor, humility, and the ability to work well as part of a team. Compensation Base salary: $100,000–$135,000 per year , depending on experience and demonstrated qualifications. In addition to base salary, the position is eligible for performance-based compensation, including: Production bonus: eligible attorneys may earn a quarterly bonus based on qualifying legal fees actually collected by the Firm for work personally performed by the attorney above the applicable production threshold. Origination bonus: Attorneys are eligible for origination bonuses on qualifying matters they personally bring to the Firm. Specific bonus calculations, eligibility requirements, and applicable thresholds are provided in the firm's written compensation plan.
