Clinical Nurse (RN) - Stanford Nursing Research - .9FTE Days (12HRS)

A Brief Overview The Clinical Nurse (RN) provides hands‑on care to patients in an evidence‑based manner, performing all steps of the nursing process: assessment, data interpretation, care planning, implementation, evaluation, coordination with other providers, and education of patients and families. The role is within the scope of the California Nursing Practice Act, regulatory requirements, standards of care, and hospital policies. Locations Stanford Health Care Clinical Trial Facilitation Trial intake, review, and facilitation Appropriate study placement Staffing considerations Training and education Financial oversight for Patient Care Services Help maintain research integrity and patient safety General operational oversight What you will do Create and maintain a climate conducive to healing, providing emotional support and guiding patients and families through illness phases. Mobilize patients' strengths and abilities toward recovery and control over the plan of care. Obtain accurate assessment data, interpret it as normal or abnormal, determine nursing diagnosis, and monitor data as needed. Collaborate with patients, families, and the health‑care team to develop and implement individualized care plans, evaluating effectiveness and monitoring adverse responses. Assess learning needs of patients and families, teach self‑care and illness prevention, adjusting information based on responses and cultural factors. Teach other staff members, including precepting or serving as a super‑user. Respond rapidly to problem situations, activate emergency protocols, and ensure quality practices. Integrate multiple requests by setting priorities, delegating tasks, and seeking assistance. Contribute to team building, positive morale, and conflict resolution. Utilize technology for communication, documentation, and locating clinical information. Contribute to the knowledge and skill of staff through teaching and participation in shared governance and professional activities. Attain and maintain current knowledge and competence, demonstrating lifelong learning. Communicate effectively in all formats. Demontrad e leadership in professional practice and the profession. Evaluate own nursing practice relative to professional standards and guidelines. Education Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Effective communication in English. Oncology experience preferred. Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse (RN) license, state licensure or compact. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
