This position would serve Building 50 and Building 51 and any other building that is under the responsibility of supervisory code SP-05 or Planning group PL-50. Our Engineers support internal and external manufacturing operations remain operational, continuously improve and innovate. With our extensive range of facilities and environments, our Engineers have opportunities across many areas including Biological, Chemical, Automation, Capital Projects, Maintenance, Safety, Process Development, Technical Services, Utilities and Validation. We are seeking a growth and improvement minded Engineering Maintenance & Utilities Specialist that can help drive our Strategic Operating Priorities. NOTE: This is for a future Third shift Position. 3rd Shift (12:00 am to 8:00 am) This position will initially start on first shift and establish the processes and systems needed to support 2nd and 3rd shift for a new building. The scheduled workdays for the position will start Monday through Friday, but will need to support future building operations on Saturday and Sunday (Depending on additional support and needs for the building). The EMU Specialist is an individual contributor, under the supervision of a Senior Specialist or Associate Director. Additional Responsibilities Provide technical manufacturing support in the field of engineering, maintenance and utilities (EMU) Day-to-day engineering support for assigned area which may include vaccine bulk manufacturing, filling, lyophilization, packaging, and/or mechanical support utilities including power, HVAC, steam, WFI and controlled temperature units. Support and monitoring of equipment performance and maintenance, propose and develop equipment and facility improvements and troubleshoot process equipment to ensure reliable, compliant and efficient operations. Actively ensures GMP quality, safety, environmental, and operating cost goals are achieved. On occasion, may provide supervisory coverage. Works with Operations, other EM&U engineers, Technology, Maintenance Supervisors and mechanics to maximize capacity and assure efficient, reliable equipment operation in accordance with all GMP, safety and environmental regulations. Champions the preventive and predictive maintenance program reviews equipment history for reliability concerns, performs root cause analysis, and identifies reliability improvement opportunities and applications for predictive maintenance technologies to reduce maintenance costs. Develops maintenance and repair strategy for shutdowns. Assists/leads Operations, maintenance supervisors, mechanics, automation engineers, process engineers and Quality representatives in troubleshooting equipment problems as well as investigating manufacturing atypical events related to system failure or malfunction. Serves as the project engineer and manager for projects including scope development, design, walkdown, CMMS system uploads (such as SAP PM, ProCal or EAM), field execution and commissioning/qualification testing. Identifies spare parts and stand‑by equipment needed to assure maximum capacity and reliability. Supports maintenance scheduling and planning processes. Helps to ensure safety culture and participates in HAZOP reviews and Safety inspections. Promotes open communications, inclusion and team work. Authors Standard Operating Procedures or User Manuals and assists in training development for mechanics and supervisors. Work with contractors and outside resources and ensures all safety and quality standards are met by contractors. Assists in the preparation of process studies, engineering standards, equipment utilization, and profit plan. Explains and enforces all GMPs, safety, and environmental regulations. Assist in audits, regulatory inspections and training. Creates, optimizes, and manages the creation of Job Plans and knowledge management documents. Education Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Science or Engineering Technology. Required Experience and Skills Work independently and as a Team member with Integrity | Precision | Accomplishment | Motivational Ambition | Respect. Three years in manufacturing or technical support group or equivalent. Can read and interpret P&ID's and isometric drawings. Proficient in empowering leadership, flexibility, motivation, teamwork/partnership problem-solving, communication, and computer skills. Knowledge in the application of engineering standards (i.e. ASME, IEEE, NFPA, CFR 1910, NIST, and/or ANSI). Preferred Experience and Skills Knowledge of cGMP for pharmaceutical and/or vaccine manufacturing. Lean Six Sigma Methodology. Root Cause Analysis | Failure Mode effects analysis. Knowledge in reliability engineering (including asset life cycle management). Computerized Management Maintenance Systems (i.e. Maximo, SAP, Hexigon, EAM, ProCal). This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.
