Senior Accountant

Real estate development company based in Irvine Hybrid schedule: 4 days in office/1 from home Experience in public accounting strongly preferred Active or inactive CPA license preferred, but not required

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

The Senior Accountant is responsible for completing monthly accounting, job cost management and financial reporting for selected projects and related entities. They will be responsible to critically evaluate on-going performance, efficiency, reporting, and internal controls, Joint Venture reporting for both Operations and Finance. In addition to these duties, they will be working on cross-functional teams and collaborating with other groups. Essential Functions Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies. This includes balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other financial reports. Monitor, record, and reconcile cash activity (banking, wire transfers, loan draws, capital calls, etc.). Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis. Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data. Identify and address control weaknesses or deficiencies. Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations. Address audit findings and implement recommendations as needed. Collaborate with tax professionals to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations. Prepare and file tax returns and assist with tax planning strategies. Provide guidance and training to junior accounting staff on accounting principles, software tools, and best practices. Performs other duties as assigned. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
