Bookkeeper Elite Tax Partners Temecula, California, United States About this position Position Overview We're looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to own bookkeeping production for an anticipated portfolio of 25–30 business clients through a structured handoff. You'll prepare monthly financials for review and train and review the work of a Bookkeeping Assistant. Strong full-cycle bookkeeping skills in QuickBooks Online and Desktop are required. Direct client responsibilities will be introduced later. This role does not include tax preparation or tax advisory work. Pay: $26 - $31 per hour, based on relevant experience and demonstrated skills 401(k), Health insurance Compensation $26 - $31 per hour Key Responsibilities Monthly Bookkeeping Execution Take on assigned bookkeeping clients through a structured handoff based on complexity, deadlines, and assistant support Meet established monthly close deadlines and flag risks early Reconcile all accounts and ensure clean financials Flag missing, unusual, or incorrect items proactively Deliver accurate, tax-ready financials every month Client Communication & Experience Keep the reviewer informed of missing information, unusual transactions, and deadline risks Coordinate document requests and follow-up through the firm's established process Build direct client relationships as responsibilities are transferred through a planned handoff Team Leadership & Delegation Train and support a Bookkeeping Assistant Delegate tasks effectively and ensure completion Review work and provide clear, timely feedback Step in and elevate issues when needed Workflow & Systems Discipline Keep all tasks updated in Canopy Keep QuickBooks files (Online and Desktop) clean, current, and organized Follow standardized checklists for every client Proactively manage workload and deadlines Financial Reporting & Accuracy Prepare monthly financials and required reports Reconcile all bank, credit card, and liability accounts Ensure data integrity across all client files Support the tax and planning teams with clean handoffs Prepare financials and an open-item summary for annual client reviews; coordinate late-fall scheduling with admin and the review lead Process Improvement & Growth Recommend workflow improvements for approval before changing shared processes Participate in and lead team trainings Continue professional development (QBO Advanced, etc.) Share best practices and contribute to team growth Success Metrics Submit complete review packages by agreed deadlines; document and elevate open items Keep requests, responses, and next actions current Use review feedback to reduce recurring errors Develop the assistant's ability to complete agreed work with less intervention Make agreed improvements that save time or improve accuracy Qualifications At least 5 years of hands-on business bookkeeping experience Demonstrated proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Desktop Experience managing bookkeeping production independently and preparing financials for review Strong organizational and time management skills Clear and professional written and verbal communication Experience training, mentoring, or leading other bookkeepers Preferred (Not Required) Experience with Canopy or a similar workflow/CRM system Experience working in a CPA or tax firm environment Exposure to tax preparation or tax concepts What Winning Looks Like Your books are accurate, clean, and require minimal correction Clients and team members receive clear, professional communication Tasks are completed on time and tracked properly in Canopy Take ownership of assigned work, communicate progress, and follow through on commitments Your Bookkeeping Assistant is growing more capable and independent under your guidance About Company Who We Are Elite Tax Partners is a proactive tax and accounting firm that works exclusively with business owners.
