CONTRACT SPECIALIST

Contract And Project Management

This is the first of two levels in the Contract and Project Management series. Incumbents monitor the activities of an on-going contract, coordinate activity with Parish employees, and provide information to the public. Responsibilities may include ensuring contractors fulfill contract obligations; coordinating efforts between a contractor and Parish employees; resolving issues and complaints from the public; and maintaining operational records, review construction plans, prepare construction drawings and inspect construction sites to determine compliance with specifications building codes and other regulations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position will have the general supervisory responsibility as that of Area Foreman and at times will serve as Area Foreman. Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Parish's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and two years experience in area of assignment; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. LICENSING REQUIREMENTS Valid Driver's License as per State law or requirement. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and the risk of electrical shock. UNIFORM An employee in this position will be supplied with a uniform, provided by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury. The employee is responsible for abiding by the Police Jury's Uniform Agreement.
