Host/Hostess

Description

Ideal Candidate:
An outgoing individual with a friendly personality who is comfortable meeting and speaking with people. Must be at least 18 years old and able to stand for extended periods of time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Reports directly to the Restaurant Supervisor/Manager
• Requires dependable, punctual attendance and willingness to work flexible hours, holidays, and attend mandatory meetings when scheduled
• Provide prompt, courteous, and efficient service to all guests
• Interact with guests and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner
• Control restaurant occupancy flow and adjust as needed
• Assign tables, seat guests, distribute menus, and cater to large groups
• Make recommendations and answer menu-related inquiries
• Assist in making restaurant reservations
• Adhere to all Departmental SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
• Adhere to all Company Policies and Health Department Regulations
• Ability to follow directions from Supervisor/Manager
• Strong organizational skills
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

Requirements
Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One (1) year working in a restaurant environment preferred

Age and Certifications

• 16 years of age or above
• Alcohol Awareness Card (if 21 years of age or older)
• Ability to obtain a Health Card if required

Language Skills

• Ability to read and understand a variety of instructions in English
• Fluency in English required
• Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus

Mathematical Skills

• Basic math skills
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to apply common sense reasoning to a variety of situations
• Ability to understand and follow policies and standard operating procedures
• Proactive problem-solving skills

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to talk, see, and hear
• Regularly required to stand and/or walk for extended periods
• Must be able to lift, carry, pull, and push objects weighing up to 30 pounds
