Senior Accountant

Benton County is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Financial Services Department at Benton County. The Senior Accountant is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and compliant financial documents; auditing and reconciling the general ledger, specifically the balance sheet; and development of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) process, providing oversight of the process and generation of the ACFR. The Financial Services Department is developing a culture of innovation and process improvement thinking and enables its staff to develop their own ideas and be problem solvers.

The annual salary range is $80,012.61 - $109,107.65, with potential for two salary raises within the first year.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related specialization and three years' experience in general ledger accounting or similar. A cover letter is required to be considered for this recruitment.

Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities include Certified Public Accountant (CPA), strong analytical skills, effective problem-solving skills, technical accounting skills, written and verbal communication skills, technical skills and experience using accounting software, understanding of accounting standards and regulatory requirements, ability to work on a team and independently, and strong organizational skills.

The ideal candidate will have experience and working knowledge in creating and maintaining accurate, compliant financial documents; auditing and reconciling the general ledger, subsidiary ledgers and bank statements; and overseeing the development, process management, and generation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). They will also have experience analyzing and investigating internal audit and internal control issues, as well as providing recommendations related to those findings.
