Chief Advancement Officer

The client invites nominations and applications for the position of Chief Advancement Officer (CAO). The CAO will provide strategic direction and leadership for fundraising, alumni relations, and advancement operations, reporting to the chancellor and serving as a member of the chancellor’s cabinet. This role leads a team of advancement professionals, including direct reports, and will foster positive internal and external relationships with campus constituencies and key external partners to inspire giving and participation. The CAO will help shape a forward-looking advancement program aligned with the client’s strategic priorities and mission, building on existing philanthropic momentum and expanding alumni engagement. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing a comprehensive advancement strategy; serving as a strategic partner to the chancellor; evaluating and enhancing advancement operations; leading donor cultivation with authenticity and purpose; and taking a strategic leadership role in the foundation board. The CAO will also broaden and diversify alumni and constituent engagement, recruit, mentor, and empower the advancement team, and strengthen cross-campus collaboration. The ideal candidate is expected to bring strong leadership and strategic partnership skills, with the ability to guide advancement operations and drive donor cultivation and stewardship efforts. The CAO will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external partners, aligning team efforts with institutional goals while ensuring authentic, purpose-driven engagement at all levels.
