Production Underwriter

The Production Bind Underwriter is responsible for driving profitable growth through the underwriting, pricing, and binding of small to mid‑market commercial P&C risks submitted by retail agents and select light brokerage partners. This role blends production, relationship management, and underwriting discipline, operating within delegated authority to quote, negotiate, and bind business while maintaining strong carrier relationships and portfolio profitability. Responsibilities Evaluate, underwrite, and bind new and renewal commercial P&C accounts within delegated authority. Analyze exposures, loss history, class codes, and risk characteristics to determine appropriate pricing and terms. Apply underwriting guidelines, appetite, and carrier-specific requirements to ensure profitable risk selection. Structure coverage, limits, and endorsements to meet both underwriting standards and client needs. Maintain compliance with carrier contracts, binding authority agreements, and internal audit standards. Develop and grow relationships with retail agents and select light brokerage partners to drive submission flow and new business opportunities. Conduct proactive outreach, appetite discussions, and pipeline management to achieve production goals. Negotiate pricing and terms with agents while balancing competitiveness and profitability. Deliver responsive, solution‑oriented service to strengthen agency loyalty and retention. Manage a profitable book of business, monitoring performance, hit ratios, retention, and loss trends. Collaborate with underwriting leadership, carrier partners, and internal teams to support program growth. Maintain accurate documentation, file integrity, and underwriting notes in accordance with audit standards. Identify opportunities for process improvement, appetite refinement, and product expansion. Qualifications 3–7+ years of commercial P&C underwriting experience; binding authority or MGA experience strongly preferred. Strong understanding of small–mid‑market commercial lines (GL, Property, BOP, Auto, Umbrella, Package). Experience working with retail agents; wholesale/brokerage interaction a plus. Proven ability to balance production goals with underwriting discipline. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to make sound risk decisions. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills. Proficiency with carrier portals, rating systems, and underwriting platforms. Professional designations (AU, CIC, CPCU) are a plus but not required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
